A non-rotating spin-dry tub directly leads to poor spin-drying efficiency, affecting the drying speed of clothes. The main causes generally fall into three categories: electrical faults, mechanical jamming, and safety protection mechanisms.
The motor is the core component driving the spin-dry tub's rotation, and electrical faults are the most common cause.
Starting Capacitor Problems: Twin tub washing machines typically use capacitors to start the motor. If the starting capacitor changes value (insufficient capacity) or burns out, the motor will not generate enough starting torque, causing the spin-dry tub to not rotate at all.
Damaged Motor Coil: A short circuit or open circuit in the motor's internal coil will prevent the motor from receiving power and operating. This is usually accompanied by abnormal sounds or odors.
Poor Contact: Loose, poorly connected, or aged and broken wires in the motor terminals will prevent the motor from transmitting signals, resulting in the spin-dry tub not rotating.
Blocking of the mechanical structure or activation of safety devices will directly restrict the free rotation of the spin-dry tub.
Clothes Entangled: This is the most common physical cause. After washing, clothes may become tangled at the bottom of the spin-dry tub or on the bushing, causing the tub to seize and prevent rotation.
Bushing Rust: If the connection between the motor and the bushing becomes rusty or corroded due to prolonged use or lack of lubrication, the shaft may seize, preventing the spin-dry tub from rotating.
Overload Protection: If too many clothes are added at once, causing excessive resistance to the spin-dry tub's rotation, some washing machines have built-in overload protection that automatically cuts off the motor power to prevent burnout.
Modern washing machines are equipped with multiple safety features. A control system malfunction will directly block the spin-drying program.
Door Safety Switch: If the door sensor does not detect that the door is closed (possibly due to a sensor malfunction or a loose door latch), the washing machine will assume the door is not closed properly and prevent the spin-dry tub from rotating for safety.
Control Panel Malfunction: A malfunction in the main control board (computer board) or a program freeze may prevent the spin-drying program from executing correctly, resulting in the spin-dry tub not rotating.
